The Calgary High School Theatresports™ Championship
February 24-25, 2012
The Improv Guild is proud to offer a chance for Calgary high school students to develop confidence, creativity and problem-solving skills through the art of improv. This tournament will allow students to participate in the art form under the expert guidance of professional improvisers. All matches will take place at the Engineered Air Theatre, downtown in the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts. Tickets will be sold at the door with box office opening 30 minutes prior to showtime. Cash only, please.

High schools form and rehearse improv teams. Each school will be paired with a coach who is a professional improviser with the Improv Guild. The coach will train the interested students in basic improv and teach them the rules of
Theatresports™, a competitive improv format invented here in Calgary! There will be individual tournaments held at each school where teams will perform in front of their peers at lunchtime. Afterwards, the players chosen to represent their schools will attend the Calgary High School Theatresports™ Championship February 24th to 25th.
The winning team will receive a $1000 Scholarship courtesy of Chinook Landscaping. They will also receive a performance showcase slot in the 5th Annual Calgary International
Improv Festival. The top two teams will receive an invite to Improversity™, a weekend
University of Calgary improv workshop that happens in conjunction with the festival.
